Medical Marijuana Available Without a Visit to Doctor

Those needing medical marijuana now have the option of getting their prescription cards without having to leave their home.

According to the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) a telemedicine service called PrestoDoctor has expanded into the state.

Potential patients can now sit at home and skip the doctor's waiting room with a simple secure video chat with the PrestoDoctor Physician.

Kyle Powers, CEO with PrestoDoctor said, "At the end of the day, it's the same exact process that you'd go through at an in-person visit. So the doctor has the same standard of care they'd use with any other patient."

Powers noted that the typical video appointment lasts 10-15 minutes. He said all physicians are board certified, licensed doctors in the state of Oklahoma.

OMMA, as of July 15, has licensed or approved 1,673 dispensaries, 3,559 growers, and over 150,000 patients.

According to the OMMA there is no rule that prohibits a doctor from assigning the recommended form by telemedicine, as long as the physician meets all state licensure requirements.
