76th Annual Lions Club Rodeo Set in Sallisaw


The 76th Annual Sallisaw Lions Club IPRA Rodeo is scheduled for Aug. 1-3 at the Sallisaw Rodeo Arena.

The rodeo will be hosted by Hampton Rodeo Co. and will begin at 8 p.m. each day. Events will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, with a parade through downtown Sallisaw.

The three-day event will feature announcer Matt McGee, rodeo clown Mike Wentworth, bullfighter Matt Libby, a trick riding and shooting team and more.

Rodeo officials have also scheduled two dances after the rodeo Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3. Friday’s dance will feature Western Justice. Reckless Stones will play for Saturday’s dance.

Organizers didn’t forget the little ones! Pony rides, wild horse races and mutton bustin’ events are scheduled.

Tickets are $8 for adults. Children ages 6-10 are $5 and kids 5 and under get in free.

*Bareback bronc riding

*Bull riding

*Cowgirls’ barrel racing

*Cowgirls’ breakaway roping

*Saddle bronc riding

*Steer wrestling

*Team roping

*Tie-down roping

The rodeo is sponsored by Blue Ribbon Auto Group, Cherokee Casino, Merrill Bonding and Coors.
