Arvest, Area Shelters Plan Adoption Event

After the historic May 2019 flooding, repairs and cleanup continue, but what about our four-legged friends?

Arvest Bank in Sallisaw, 811 W Ruth Ave., is celebrating the Dog Days of Summer with an adoption event Friday, July 12, between noon and 4 p.m.

Crystal Walker and Jessica Taylor, both with Arvest, said their goal is to get the community involved in finding permanent homes for dogs and cats that have been placed in shelters or foster care.

The women pointed out that shelters and foster homes are not a permanent solution, so finding a loving, forever home for an animal is very important for their overall well-being.

Representatives from various animal shelters and foster homes around the area will be at the event, and adoption fees are up to each individual shelter.

There will be kiddie pools to keep the animals cool during the event and face-painting for the kids. The Sallisaw Fire Department will have a fire truck on display as well.

The organizers hope to expand the event to other area communities in the future.
