A Roland man faces a felony charge of malicious injury to property after he allegedly damaged an automatic teller machine (ATM) belonging to Firstar Bank in Roland on July 3, a police report shows.
Billy Don Johnson, 43, reportedly kicked and punched the machine, then used a crowbar and a hammer to damage the ATM after it failed to give him the $200 he was seeking.
Officers were notified of the damaged ATM on July 8, the report shows. Surveillance footage reportedly showed an angry Johnson attacking the machine.
Bank officials said Mick’s Vault Works estimated the damage to the ATM at about $1,600.
Johnson admitted to the incident, according to the report.
The felony charge is punishable by imprisonment in the state penitentiary for up to two years and a fine of up to $1,000.
