Sallisaw children will have to wait a little longer to play at the city’s Splash Pad.
City Manager Keith Skelton said Tuesday, July 2, that the recent wet weather has halted construction on the Splash Pad.
Work on the site began last week, and Skelton said that once the weather clears up, construction will take about a month. Skelton said the Splash Pad should be complete by the first week of August.
The splash pad, which will be located at Jay Reynolds Park, is a $300,000 project. Fifty percent of the cost will be covered by a grant from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreational Department and the remaining fifty percent will be paid for with the City Youth and Recreational Fund from the city's Hotel and Motel Tax.
