A resident of the area spotted the body and contacted the police department, according to Sallisaw Chief of Police Terry Franklin.
Franklin stated that there was no sign of foul play. "The body has been sent to the medical examiner in Tulsa for toxicology and an autopsy. We will have to wait to find out the cause of death," said Franklin.
The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of all family members.
Franklin did say that the body was that of a white male Sallisaw resident in his mid-40's.
