Back-to-school shoppers can shop tax-free soon.
The Oklahoma sales tax holiday is scheduled from 12:01 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 and will end at midnight Sunday, Aug. 4.
The Oklahoma Legislature passed Senate Bill 861 during the 2007 legislative session to benefit consumers and retailers by providing sales tax-exempt shopping.
During the holiday, sales of any article of clothing or footwear designer designed for general use are eligible for the tax break, but items can’t cost more than $100.
Any special clothing or footwear designed specifically for an athletic activity or for protective use are not eligible. Other non-exempt items include jewelry, handbags, luggage, umbrellas, wallets, watches and other similar items.
Other eligible items include aprons, receiving blankets, bathing suits, coats or jackets, diapers, formal wear, hosiery and more.
