Muldrow Man Charged With Taking Vehicle

A Muldrow man was arrested June 30 and charged with the unauthorized use of a vehicle, a felony.

Thomas William Cleland Jr., 25, faces up to two years in the Department of Corrections, records show.

In late June, a woman went to the Muldrow Police Department to report her daughter’s car stolen. She said her grandson, Adam McCoin, had called her over the weekend to tell her that he had been arrested on other charges.

The suspect was determined to be Cleland, who was arrested near the Roland casino. Cleland told police that McCoin had let another man borrow the vehicle and he never brought it back. McCoin then went to Roland to search for the car, but he was arrested.

Cleland said he never took possession of the car until 1 p.m. June 29.

Cleland was transported to the Sequoyah County Jail. His bond was set at $5,000.
