The City of Sallisaw honored three longtime employees who recently retired at the weekly meeting of the city’s commissioners July 13.

With more than 60 years of combined experience, the men worked tirelessly for the community, even coming out of a brief retirement to help out the city amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Jim Alderson started his career with the city on Oct. 27, 1993, as a meter reader. He later moved up to code enforcement, where he retired March 17.

Blaine Wilson, crew leader for the city’s Parks Department, was hired on March 24, 1999, and he retired March 24.

Jeff Murray joined the Sallisaw Police Department as a patrolman on Oct. 6, 1999, and retired as a captain on May 31.
