Vian Music Festival Set for Sept. 28

Are you ready to battle? Come on out to Vian’s Fall Y’all Music Festival beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the city park.

The festival will feature a Battle of the Bands, which is open to all kinds of groups, or even soloists who want to perform. There is a $40 entry fee per band and a $250 grand prize for the winner. Each artist will have 30 minutes to perform. The deadline for entering is Sept. 13.

This first-ever, family friendly event is a perfect opportunity to promote arts and music in the Vian area, said Isaac Barnoskie, president of the Vian/Tenkiller Area Chamber of Commerce.

Barnoskie said concession proceeds will go to the Vian Band Boosters, who plan to purchase new musical instruments with the windfall. The rest of the funds will go to the chamber and will help fund several projects.

The chamber is also looking for individuals who may have musical instruments they aren’t using that they want to donate, Barnoskie said.

The first band to sign up for the battle is Oklahoma Wildlife, featuring Joel Finch, Neicey Dunham Finch and Debbie Duvall. Barnoskie said any groups that want to come out are more than welcome, and anyone who wants to become a sponsor is urged to contact the festival’s organizers.

For more information, call Barnoskie at (405) 694-3259 or Kendra Garrett, (918) 773-7126.
