The Old Sallisaw High School Association’s Black Diamond Event Center has decided to open up the venue for class reunions and other events.
The event center at the Old Sallisaw High School Park, 203 W Creek, will be available for those who want to reminisce and share stories about their school days and take reunion photos under the marquee. The center can also provide breakfast, lunch or dinner for reunion-goers for a per-person fee.
Gary F. Jackson, the association’s president, said Monday that the park will host a Walk the Park event Sept. 1. The site still needs a bit more cleanup and distance markers need to be added before the walk, Jackson said, but the event is open to anyone who wants to participate.
The park will also host “Junkin’ In the Park,” a swap meet and flea market, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, Jackson said. Vendor space is available for $10 per booth. Participants must bring their own table.
“Painting With Star” will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 2, at the park. The painting class will be led by artist Star Bear of Sand Springs. A minimum of 12 people are required to participate in the event, with a $30 per person fee, which includes paint, supplies, snacks and drinks.
