Lake Tenkiller will be getting a facelift later this month, thanks to a joint cleanup effort planned for Aug. 15-17.
Tidy Up Tenkiller is a community-generated effort between the Greater Tenkiller Area Association (GTAA) Lake Clean Up Committee, Lake Tenkiller-area community organizations and residents to sustain the lake’s natural beauty, which was marred because of the recent flooding and tornado damage. Organizers said trash and debris litter the shoreline, the access roads to the marinas, as well as in the lake itself.
The three-day Tidy Up Tenkiller event will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. all three days. Gloves, trash bags and safety gear will be provided as needed and dumpsters will be available for collected trash. Lunch will be served. Volunteers must register before the event at www.LakeTenkiller.com, Don Nowlin said.
For more information, visit www.facebook.com/GreaterTenkillerAreaAssociation, call Nowlin at (918)457-4403 or email nowlindonald@msn.com. Volunteers can register at www.laketenkiller.com.
Volunteers are encouraged to pick a location, pick a day or pick all three days!
Donations and sponsorships supporting the lake are gladly accepted through the GTAA Lake Clean Up Committee.
