Teen Reaches Plea Agreement for Burglary, Assault and Battery – Biting Man’s Ear Off

An 18-year-old Bunch man has agreed to a plea agreement in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw. The teenager, who was only 17 at the time and considered a juvenile, is charged with first-degree burglary and aggravated assault and battery.

The young man is accused of breaking and entering into a Mable City home on April 22 when the female occupant was at home, and then biting the ear off another man. The burglary charge is punishable by imprisonment for seven to 20 years, and the assault and battery charge is punishable by up to five years in prison or one year in the county jail, and up to a $500 fine.

Assistant District Attorney Stacey Slaughter said the young man was first charged as a juvenile, then certified as an adult, but he has not been declared an adult yet by the court. It is expected he will be officially declared an adult by the time of his sentencing on Nov. 2.
