Awards Presented to Those Against Domestic Violence

Police, investigators and volunteers were honored last week for their efforts on behalf of those who suffer from domestic violence and the work they do to make the public aware of domestic violence.

Cindy Edwards Smith with the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office presented the awards at a dinner in Muldrow. She said members of the Coordinated Community Response (CCR) Team chose one member from each agency to receive the award.

Receiving awards are Chris Waters from Roland Police Department, Christian Goode from the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, Billy Mack White of the Gore Police Department, Det. John Owens of the Sallisaw Police Department, and Mark Harkins of the Muldrow Police Department.

Amber Brunk with Cherokee Nation One Fire was the recipient of the Sequoyah County CCR Domestic Violence Awareness Advocate Award.

Recipients unable to attend are Chief Mark Fisher of the Vian Police Department and Domestic Violence Awareness Volunteer of the Year Nan Stites.
