A 20-year-old Springdale, Ark., man was killed Saturday in a one-car crash about five miles east of Roland on Interstate 40.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported Hunter Burris was pronounced dead at the scene.
The OHP reported a passenger, Andrea Barksdale, 25, also of Springdale, was admitted to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith. She was listed in stable condition with internal injuries.
The OHP reported Burris was driving a 2006 Chevrolet two-door car west when he tapped the brakes for an unknown reason, causing the car to hydroplane into the center median. The car struck a tree on the driver’s side door before coming to a stop. The crash occurred at about 11:12 a.m. in a heavy rain, the OHP reported.
