Fugitive Shot at Sallisaw McDonalds

A fugitive being sought by police was shot during an exchange of gunfire with Sequoyah County Sheriff’s deputies at about 2 p.m. Wednesday, and was transported to a Sequoyah Memorial Hospital under police supervision. It is believed that the shot could be critical.

Sallisaw police described the scene as “chaotic!” The shooting was at the Sallisaw McDonald’s restaurant.

No one else was injured in the gunfire exchange, police reported.

Police said Jamie Huskey, 45, had threatened suicide by cop, and was armed with a pistol. 

According to Fort Smith police Huskey is accused of hitting his sister with a metal object during a fight at a home in the 4600 block of Mussett Road early Wednesday. The sister was taken to a Fort Smith hospital.

Sallisaw police spotted Huskey’s vehicle, a black Chrysler 200, at a Sallisaw motel about 1 p.m. Wednesday, and began searching the area.

He has failed to register as a sex offender, and he will face charges of felony domestic battery and aggravated assault Fort Smith police said. He is also wanted out of Texas, and his bond was revoked on a sexual assault charge.
