Muldrow To Temporarily Shut Off Water in Small Area of Town

The Town of Muldrow will be turning off water to about two blocks, near Sixth and Birch Streets, at noon Monday to fix a water valve.

Town Administrator Matthew Duke said a six-inch water main line at Birch and Shawnee Streets broke at about 3:30 a.m. Monday, but was quickly repaired and water service was restored.

Duke said during that repair a leaking water valve was found, and to repair or replace that valve the water will be turned off for about an hour.

“It will only impact about five houses,” Duke said.

Duke said the summer’s increasing temperatures impacts water lines, sometimes causing them to break when the ground dries out and shifts.
