An unattended death Tuesday in Sallisaw is being investigated, Sallisaw police reported Wednesday morning.
Sallisaw Police Chief Terry Franklin said police were called to a residence at 205 W. Scott Street at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday.
“Upon arrival the officers believed the circumstances of the death to be suspicious,” Franklin reported. “Detectives with the Sallisaw Police Department were dispatched to the scene and began the investigation.”
The body, a male, Franklin said, was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Tulsa for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. All unattended deaths are required by law to go to the medical examiner’s office.
Franklin said the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are assisting in the investigation.
