Several Sequoyah County officials took office on Tuesday.
Sequoyah County Commissioners, at their meeting on Tuesday, appointed Kelly Miller, an employee at the Sequoyah County Assessor’s Office, to fulfill the term of retiring assessor, Donna Graham. The commissioners met Tuesday after the New Year’s holiday on Monday.
Graham’s last day in office will be Jan. 31.
Graham said, “I turned 66 years old and it’s time.”
Sworn into office on Tuesday were the county’s new sheriff, Larry Lane, District 2 County Commissioner Steve Carter, County Clerk Julie Haywood and Court Clerk Vicki Beaty. They were sworn into office by District Judge Jeff Payton on Tuesday morning.
