Hundreds visited with Sequoyah County Assessor Donna Graham at her retirement party on Friday. Her retirement cake was in keeping with the western theme of the retirement party.
Graham’s life has a cowboy theme and she keeps track of points for the rodeo associations in which her husband and son compete.
Graham worked in Sequoyah County government for over 20 years and has served as Sequoyah County Assessor since August 2005. Her last day will be Jan. 31.
Graham said she recently turned age 66 and it was time to retire. Sequoyah County Commissioners appointed Kelly Miller, an employee in the assessor’s office, to fill the assessor’s post.
“You get up every morning and get to come to a job you love. Not many people get to do that,” Graham said recently about her retirement.
In her retirement Graham said she plans to do some furniture refinishing and spend more time with family.
