The CASC chapter of Oklahoma Aspiring Educators Association is hosting a professional development workshop with Dr. Lara Searcy, English Education Specialist at Northeastern State University (NSU). The workshop will be held via Zoom on Thursday, January 21 from 4 pm to 5 pm. “This is a great additional learning opportunity for not only our students, but also anyone else who wishes to join!” said Susan Hill, CASC fine arts instructor. “We’re so grateful to have such wonderful partners to bring excellent resources to our students. Additionally, I’m so proud of our OAEA chapter for always seeking out great opportunities for additional learning.”
The workshop will focus on techniques for creating positive reading experiences. This includes understanding learners, fostering inclusive learning environments, and planning anit-racist instruction. With an estimated 66% of students nationwide reading below grade level, the CASC OAEA chapter has adopted literacy as its social justice project for the 2020-21 school year.
