It has now been just over two weeks since Oklahoma healthcare providers began distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. Reports indicate that the state is currently ranked at #8 in the nation for administering the vaccine per capita. The state has received 174,900 doses of the vaccine and as of Friday 50,330 have been administered.
Oklahoma State Deptartment of Health official, Jessica Milberger said, "We're moving pretty quickly, so I think that that's definitely promising." The state is now transitioning into Phase 2 of their vaccine distribution plan. Milberger added, "I don't think anybody really expected us to be this far along."
The state also reports additional good news with Friday's weekly Risk Level System. For the first time in the last several months 76 out of the 77 Oklahoma counties are in the Orange level and one is in the Yellow. Not a single county in the state is currently in the Red level.
Sequoyah County has had 2,527 cases of the coronavirus with 2,185 cases reported as recovered and a current total of 17 deaths.
