Sallisaw Performing Arts Center Taking Shape

Sallisaw is home to a new venture the owner hopes will bring a variety of entertainment to Sequoyah County.

Joshua Rogers is the owner and chief executive officer of the Sallisaw Performing Arts Center, 601 W. Choctaw Ave. The PAC, which houses Rogers’ Studio 3:16 Music Lessons and Instruction School, will also include a theatre company, a music recording studio and a full art studio by spring 2021.

Rogers said the idea for the PAC was borne from a conversation with friends about the lack of space to hold dance and music recitals or other larger events in town. That sparked an idea for Rogers, who purchased the old Elim Church building, which seats 200 people.

Though still in the process of making renovations, the PAC is quickly taking shape, Rogers said. “It’s very exciting.” A grand opening and open house is tentatively scheduled for March.

“We are going to have a full concession stand, and we expect to have art shows and classes,” Rogers said. “We also have plans to do dinner shows, plays and other theatre productions.” Rogers also said there are plans in the works to get a movie screen for Friday and Saturday movie nights.

Though the PAC is not affiliated with the City of Sallisaw, Rogers said he has the full support of Sallisaw Main Street and the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce.
