Beginning Wednesday a voluntary boil order is in effect until further notice for some residents north of Sallisaw.
According to Sequoyah County Rural Water Association manager Vance Mooney, the voluntary boil order is for the area along Old Highway 17 north from the Highway 101 area to Marble City. Sequoyah Little Farms residents are included in the advisory but Marble City residents are not.
Mooney said the order is due to recent water line breaks and repairs in this area. Repairs have been completed and most residents do have water at this time. Some homes may still be without water as tanks continue to fill to normal levels. "We are hoping to have everyone's water back on by this afternoon," Mooney said.
Mooney added that the water is fully chlorinated and should be safe. The voluntary order is just a precaution.
Water samples will be tested tomorrow and the voluntary order will be lifted as soon as possible.
