Precautionary Boil Order in Effect

A precautionary boil order is now in effect for customers in Sequoyah County who are beginning to have their water service restored after damage to water lines Monday night caused a major outage.

Vance Mooney, Sequoyah County Water Association Mgr., stated that the boil order was just precautionary but would remain in place until further notice.

Work continues on repairs Wednesday and Mooney said that crews were making good progress. Many homes are still without water and some have water with drastically reduced pressure.

A precautionary notice does not mean that your water is unsafe, but it does mean that you must take precaution and boil your water before use. All customers are advised to boil their drinking water until adequate pressure is restored to the system. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute for the following: cooking or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks feeding pets, washing dishes and all other consumption.
