Arrest Warrant Issued After High-speed Chase

An arrest warrant was issued April 8 for a Greenwood, Ark., man who reportedly led law enforcement on a high-speed chase March 15, records show.

Matthew Brock Jones, 36, was charged with endangering others while eluding police officers, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of altering a license plate decal. His bond was set at $10,000.

A corporal with the Muldrow Police Department was on patrol March 15 when he observed a white Ford Fiesta with an expired tag. The officer stopped the vehicle at U.S. Highway 64 and Cottonwood. The driver, Jones, told the officer he didn’t have identification and insisted his tag didn’t expire until March. A quick check revealed a bogus decal sticker reading “March 2020.”

When the officer returned to his vehicle to check Jones’ record, the man drove off in the Fiesta. The officer activated his emergency lights and sirens and followed the car eastbound toward Roland.

A records check revealed that Jones had an outstanding warrant from Sebastian County, Ark.

Jones’ felony eluding charge is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 and/or imprisonment for up to five years. The penalty for altering a license plate is a fine of up to $500.
