Officials who are scrambling to keep up with the constantly changing COVID-19 situation have made the following announcements:
Sallisaw City Manager Keith Skelton said Monday that camping spots at Brushy Lake will be limited to half those normally available. The park is not closing, but overnight camping spaces will be limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Overnight camping will also be limited to no more than seven consecutive days. Day use of the park is not affected.
“The City of Sallisaw reminds everyone to practice proper hygiene and social distancing during their time at the park,” Skelton said in a statement.
In addition, Max Smith, chairman of the Sallisaw Farmers’ Market, said Friday that the market will now be closed until at least May 9.
