The Sequoyah Theatre in Sallisaw is one of the locations featured in the
nomination video for the upcoming HGTV series 'Home Town Takeover'.
If, like millions of Americans, you're a fan of HGTV home renovation shows you're probably familiar with Ben and Erin Napier and their popular show 'Home Town'. Ben and Erin have gained a huge fan base as they have worked to renovate and restore historic homes and buildings, especially in their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi.
HGTV recently announced a new project featuring Ben and Erin called 'Home Town Takeover'. In this six-episode special event the Napiers will lead a team of renovation experts as they "takeover and makeover" a small town.
In order to choose the town that will be featured the show has asked for nominations of small towns. The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce, Sallisaw Main Street and The Mix have worked together to create and submit a video featuring Sallisaw. The submission video was produced by Zach Hightower of The Mix and can be viewed on the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
The video showcases our "small town" with several local resident interviews. The video highlights several historic homes that would be wonderful choices for the show to renovate and also suggests the old Sequouyah Theatre and the Old Sallisaw High School Rotunda Park as possible sites for restoration.

'Home Town Takeover' is set to air on HGTV in 2021. Hopefully Sallisaw will be taken over and featured!
