City Council Discusses Work at Walking Trail


The Sallisaw Board of City Commissioners focused on the city’s walking trail at the sports complex at their monthly meeting Monday.

The commissioners unanimously voted to amend a contract with Neel, Harvell and Associates for engineering work related to the walking trail in the amount of $12,600. The panel also accepted a bid from Weldon Construction Company, LLC, of Piedmont, Okla., for concrete work on the trail in the amount of $186,953.62.

In other business, the panel approved the amendment of a contract for the renovation of the Civic Center. The change, in the amount of $8,843, will allow for new flooring in the vending/conference area, as well as adding six new doors and repairing the ceiling on the north end of the building. The change will bring the total amount of the contract to $412,816.

The commissioners also honored three men who recently retired from the city, Raymond McCarty, John Owens and Randy Freeman.
