People Inc. and the Area Agency on Aging, EODD, have teamed up to sponsor a food drive.
Organizers will be collecting nonperishable food items and paper products for area senior citizens in need. Donations will be accepted until Friday, March 6, at People Inc.’s behavioral health office, 205 S. JT Stites Blvd., in Sallisaw. The donated items will then be distributed to senior citizens throughout Sequoyah County.
The food drive is an effort to assist seniors in our community and lower the rate of food insecurity in Sequoyah County. Statistics show that total food insecurity in eastern Oklahoma is 17.6 percent.
