Rape Suspect 'Doesn't Remember Anything'

Dakota Lynch

A Muldrow man, and former jailer at the Sequoyah County Detention Center in Sallisaw, is being held in the Sallisaw jail on a rape charge after his arrest Wednesday,

Sheriff Larry Lane said a warrant was issued Wednesday for Dakota Lynch of Muldrow and he was arrested the same day. Lane said Lynch resigned his post as a county jailer after his arrest.

Lynch is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in March 2016 at a teenage drinking party on Flat Rock Road in Muldrow. Lane said the arrest report could not be released because it included information about the juvenile girl. Lynch was reported to be age 18 at the time.

Lane said Lynch told investigators that he did not remember anything because he had drank 15 beers and a bottle of Fireball, a liquor, at the party. The girl allegedly told investigators “they had sex.”

A baby was born to the girl on Dec. 25, 2016, Lane said and DNA was taken for testing on Dec. 29. The DNA results, delivered on May 1, indicated Lynch was 99.9 percent positive as the father of the child, Lane said.

Lane said he doesn’t know why it took so long to get the DNA test results or why it took so long to make the arrest. He said he only knew about it when the warrant was issued on Wednesday.

Lynch will most likely be in court on Wednesday during regular arraignments. The district attorney’s office was closed on Friday for the Veteran’s Day holiday. No formal charges have yet been filed according to court records.
