Candidates for the Boards of Education in Sequoyah County school districts will file their Declarations of Candidacy beginning at 8 a.m. on Dec. 4, and continuing on Dec. 5 and 6, Sequoyah County Election Board Secretary Cindy Osborn said.
Osborn said the official filing period ends at 5 p.m. on Dec. 6. All candidate filings will be at the Sequoyah County Election Board office, 110 E. Creek Ave. in Sallisaw, Osborn said.
The boards of education positions at stake will be filled at the Feb.13 annual school election. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in the election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in a runoff election on April 3.
Candidates may file for the following school board and Sallisaw offices:
-C-50 Belfonte School District---Office No. 1 (3 years)
-I-46 Braggs School District---Office No. 3 (5 years)
-C-36 Brushy School District---Office No. 1 (3 years)
-I-7 Central School District---Office No. 3 (5 years)
-I-4 Gans School District---Office No. 3 (5 years)
-I-6 Gore School District---Office No. 3 (5 years) and No. 5 (2 years)
-C-1 Liberty School District---Office No. 1 (3 years)
-C-35 Marble City School District---Office No.1 (3 years)
-C-68 Moffett School District---Office No. 1 (3 years)
-I-3 Muldrow School District---Office No. 3 (5 years)
-I-5 Roland School District---Office No.3 (5 years)
-I-1 Sallisaw School District---Office No. 3 (5 years)
-I-2 Vian School District---Office No. 3 (5 years)
-4 Indian Capital Vo-Tech---Office No. 3 (5 years)
-City of Sallisaw---Mayor, 2-year unexpired term, and Ward 2 (3 years) and Ward 4, (3 years).
