City Council Votes to Terminate Employment of City Manager Clayton Lucas

By a vote of 3-2 the Sallisaw city commissioners and Mayor Jim Hudgens voted to terminate City Manager Clayton Lucas II in tonight's city council meeting. The motion to terminate was made by Ronnie Lowe after the council reconvened after a little over one hour in executive session. The motion was seconded by Ro Poindexter. Council members Poncho Mendiola and Daryl Legg both voted not to terminate Lucas, and Mayor Jim Hudgens broke the tie with a vote to terminate.

In anticipation of a large crowd the meeting was held in the Sallisaw Civic Center and as expected it was a packed house.

Upon hearing the outcome of the vote, Mr Lucas stood up from the council table and left the room.
