The third annual Thanksgiving Dinner, organized by community partners in Sequoyah County and led by the KiBois Community Action Foundation, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Sallisaw Middle School.
The dinner is free and open to all who wish to attend. Those who need a ride to the dinner may contact KATS (KiBois Area Transit System) at 918-775-7433 for a free ride to the middle school.
Melissa Lowe from the foundation said the menu will include turkey and stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, hot rolls and desserts.
“We need donations of desserts,” Lowe said.
Anyone who wishes to provide a dessert may contact Lowe at 918-776-0848.
The dinner is supported by local organizations and businesses, which donated time, foods and goods, and the schools, Lowe said. She said five of the Sallisaw School cooks are donating their own time to cook the meal. Among the others assisting are People Inc., the Cherokee Nation, The MIX 105.1, and the Sallisaw and Central Schools Youth Coalitions.
Lowe said about 500 had dinner last year, and organizers are expecting that many and perhaps more this year.
