Sheriff Ron Lockhart has called a press conference for 2 p.m. Friday to relate information about the shooting of a woman who was found in a ditch off Highway 64 south of Roland early Thursday.
One man is in custody and authorities are searching for a second person of interest and a vehicle possibly involved, according to Lockhart.
Lockhart said Friday he was on his way to talk with the shooting victim. She was transported to a Fort Smith hospital and underwent surgery Thursday. She is expected to survive the shooting, Lockhart said. No names have been released at this time.
