Members of the Old Sallisaw High School Alumni Association are planning several events this month, as they refurbish the old Sallisaw High School rotunda and property as a public park.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Oct. 17, members will hold a work day at the site, and will be preparing the sidewalk for the return of the memory bricks. Many of the bricks were collected by the original donors after the city announced plans to tear down the rotunda. Since then plans have changed and the property is now owned by the alumni association. Association members are hoping to redo the sidewalk as it was originally.
An ice cream social, for the return of the bricks, will be held at 5 p.m. Oct. 24 at the park. Taco soup and gumbo will also be served, and some association members will be playing music.
"Bring your lawn chairs and let's have some fun," association members encouraged.
The association is also planning on selling more memory bricks to complete the sidewalk.
