The Elder Board of The Journey Church in Sallisaw has filed a civil lawsuit against former pastor, Jeffrey Allred, asking for no less than $50,000 "for the recovery of funds that were misappropriated from The Journey Church, Inc."
The lawsuit, filed in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw on Sept. 28, notes that Allred was the lead pastor at the church, and, from June 30, 2009, to Aug. 14, 2015, he had access to a credit card he allegedly told the church elders was to "be used to purchase supplies for children's Bible classes and other church activities."
Instead, the lawsuit alleges, Allred used the credit card to buy "numerous items...which he then sold on eBay," and kept the money for himself.
The lawsuit "seeks damages based on Deceit, False Representation, Nondisclosure and Concealment, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, Conversion and all other related claims."
Allred is also under investigation by the Sallisaw Police Department, which has subpoenaed his and his church's financial records.
