Sallisaw city street crews have been working diligently to seal streets in several areas around town. According to city officials, sealing rejuvenates and extends the life of the asphalt. Sam Randolph, Sallisaw Street Superintendent, said Monday the city is now moving to Ward 3 to begin sealing those streets.
The city asks that residents be mindful during this time and have all vehicles, boats, campers, etc. removed from the road.
The public should also watch for signs and not drive through the area immediately after oil has been sprayed. City crews will remove cones and barricades when the street is ready to be driven on. The city is not responsible for vehicles damaged by hot oil as a result of drivers ignoring the signs and driving around the barricades and on the freshly oiled streets.
