A car accident that occurred at 4:04 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 59, one-third of a mile north of CR EW 1-204, about half a mile north of Sallisaw, left a Stilwell man injured.
Levi Gonzalis, 72, was transported by Mercy Lifeline to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk internal injuries.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Gonzalis was driving a 1993 GMC Suburban northbound on U.S. 59 when he departed the roadway to the right and struck a tree.
Gonzalis was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, the report shows.
