Diamond Daze Adds Parking for Concerts

Diamond Daze in Sallisaw kicks off Thursday and continues through Saturday at the Sallisaw High School campus, and, with crowds expected at Friday's and Saturday's concerts, the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors Diamond Daze, is expecting a crowd. That's why arrangements have been made for additional parking at Blue Ribbon Downs for Friday and Saturday evenings. Judy Martens, the chamber's executive director, said Monday that the parking area behind the high school gym and in the asphalt parking lot on the school campus will be filled first, then parking will be directed to the racetrack on U.S. Highway 64 on Sallisaw's west side. KiBois Transit buses will shuttle people to and from the concert. Martens said girls will be taking parking money at both locations, and police will alert concert goers to when the high school lots are full and to proceed to the racetrack. "Don't stay home!" Martens said. "We have parking!" Parking this year is limited due to the construction of Sallisaw's new middle school. Stay tuned to KXMX or visit www.kxmx.com for the latest news.
