Halloween on Elm Street Will be Held Oct. 30

The Sallisaw Police Department will be holding the annual Halloween on Elm Street event on Oct. 30. Police Chief Terry Franklin invited all organizations, churches and other groups to join in the fun. The street festival closes off Elm Street in front of the Sallisaw Civic Center. Local groups who want to participate set up tables and booths along both sides of Elm Street to offer treats and other goodies to kids in costumes, and their parents. Franklin said, "We invite all the groups that want to participate to set up their booths by 4:30 p.m. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m." Franklin said the intent is not to move Halloween from the traditional Oct. 31. A Sallisaw football game is scheduled for that night, and the department did not want to interfere with the ball game. Anyone who wants more information may call the department at (918) 774-4141.
