Gans Man Accused of Pointing a Firearm

A 32-year-old Gans man was charged Sept. 24 in Sequoyah County Court in Sallisaw with feloniously pointing a firearm, and misdemeanor counts of carrying a firearm while under the influence and public intoxication. Brandon Dean Hendrix was arrested Sept. 16 by Sequoyah County Sheriff's deputies. Deputies were dispatched to Gans and found Hendrix sitting on a horse holding a shotgun. Hendix gave the shotgun to the deputies, who noticed that he seemed to be unsteady on the horse and deputies detected the odor of alcohol on his person. Two other persons then arrived at the scene, and the female accused Hendrix of pointing the shotgun at her granddaughter. Hendrix was then transported to the county jail. The owner of a nearby residence and two other witnesses then reported to the deputies that Hendrix shot at the residence, and the deputies found what appeared to be a shotgun shell hull lying on the ground. Hendrix is to be arraigned Wednesday. By Sally Maxwell, Senior News Director
