The Cherokee Nation is opening a new office in downtown Sallisaw to help Cherokee citizens in Sequoyah County find jobs, apply for loans, get a Cherokee license plate and gather information on fostering Native children, all in one convenient setting. For the first time, Cherokee Nation's Career Services, Tax Commission, Commerce and Indian Child Welfare departments will share space in one location to better serve Cherokee citizens in Sequoyah and surrounding counties. A ribbon cutting and grand opening will be held Thursday. The community is invited to attend a short ceremony, take tours of the office and enjoy light refreshments. The open house will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. and the ribbon cutting will be at 2 p.m. The new office is in the Sequoyah Building at 100 E. Choctaw in Sallisaw
