On Saturday, Oct. 11 a candle lighting service was held at the corner of Martin Luther King and Sanders St. in Vian for Linda Finney-Drew. Dozens of friends and family members showed up to light a candle in her memory.
Finney-Drew was the victim of a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Vian on Oct. 7. Finney-Drew and Janice Shade were both struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking along the street in Vian. Shade was transported to Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw where she was treated and released but Finney-Drew was pronounced dead at the scene.
Elton Darrell Vanzant, 74, of Cookson was later arrested as the suspected driver in the accident. He was charged with leaving the scene of a fatality accident and negligent homicide, motor vehicle.
Funeral services for Linda Finney-Drew will be held at the Vian Baptist Church on Oct. 18 at 11:00 a.m.
