The Sequoyah County Sheriff's Department called off a search for a 19-year-old Wednesday evening, after the suspect fled into nearby woods. The chase began when officers were dispatched to Pier 7, (above) south of Sallisaw on U.S. Highway 59, on what was at first believed to be a physical domestic dispute. But when officers arrived, the suspect, Jimmy Johnson, 19, fled the scene. The investigation revealed Johnson is a fugitive from drug court, but the dispute was verbal, not physical. A search warrant is expected to be issued for Johnson in the near future for resisting arrest. By Sally Maxwell, Senior News Director
