A Muldrow woman was arrested May 20 and charged with second-degree burglary, a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison.
Shawnene Elaine Speer, 48, is accused of breaking into the 64 Swap Meet at 2205 E. Shawntel Smith Blvd. in Muldrow.
On May 16, a police report reveals, three separate businesses were broken into at the Swap Meet and had items stolen from their inventory.
Officers arrived at the location at the request of victim Janet Pickett, a current vendor. She said that when she arrived that day, she noticed some items had been moved or were missing.
On May 18 at 12:10 a.m., officers discovered Speer inside the lot of the business. The lot has a gate that is locked at night. Speer didn’t have a key that fit any of the business doors but she had a key to the gate.
On May 20, officers traveled to Speer’s residence with a search warrant. They found a black Polaroid tablet, which Pickett had identified as being stolen from her.
With Speer’s admission that she was at the Swap Meet the night of the burglary and that fingerprints found at the scene were most likely hers, she was taken into police custody and transported to the Sequoyah County Jail.
