The Board of City Commissioners unanimously approved City Manager Keith Skelton’s contract at their monthly meeting Monday. The new contract runs from July 1 to June 30, 2021.
The commissioners also approved the renewal of several bond issues and other measures. Skelton told the commissioners that the measures are required each year to ensure funding for city projects and related purchases continues.
The commissioners:
*Approved an invoice and renewal participation agreement with the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group (OMAG) for fiscal year 2020-21 for workers’ compensation insurance
*Approved the renewal of the sales tax agreement between the City of Sallisaw and the Sequoyah County Hospital Authority
*Approved items related to a law enforcement mutual aid agreement between the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Sallisaw, including a resolution authorizing the execution of a law enforcement mutual aid agreement for voluntary cooperation and operational assistance and another law enforcement mutual aid agreement for voluntary cooperation and operational assistance. The board also approved an agreement to provide school resource officers for the 2020-21 school year.
In other business, the commissioners approved the renewal of the city’s lease agreements with the Sallisaw NOW Coalition for lease of office and storage space. They also approved the purchase of a 2011 Peterbilt 388 truck for use with the Street Department.
