Wednesday Accident Leaves One Dead


A single-vehicle accident north of Muldrow Wednesday left one dead and two injured.

According to the report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the accident occurred at approximately 8:08 p.m. Wednesday on Rex Scott Road and CR4730 approximately 5 miles north of Muldrow.

The report states that Michael Gravelle, 24, of Van Buren, was driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla northbound on 4730 when he departed the roadway to the right for approximately 128 feet before striking a ditch and rolling one time. The vehicle continued on for another 126 feet striking multiple trees and rolling another time.

The vehicle continued on for another 148 feet before coming to rest, the report states.

Gravelle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the vehicle were also injured.

Amber Oglesby, 25, and David Reed, 27, both of Muldrow were transported to Baptist Health in Ft. Smith by Pafford EMS where they were treated and released. They both sustained head and leg injuries, according to OHP report.

The cause of the collision was listed as speed.

Neither Gravelle or Reed were wearing their seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The OHP was assisted at the scene by the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Dept., Pafford EMS and Liberty Fire.
