Hayden Caughmen, 18, of Sallisaw, was Lifeflighted Monday morning after a single-vehicle accident.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, Caughman was driving a 2001 Ford PK on a county road three miles north and five miles east of Sallisaw at approximately 8:07 a.m. when the accident occurred.
Caughman was traveling southbound when his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected to the left, departed the roadway and struck a tree, the OHP statement reports.
Caughman was pinned in the vehicle and freed by Central Fire and Rescue. He was then Lifeflighted to St Johns in Tulsa and admitted in stable condition with leg injuries.
The OHP report states that seatbelts were in use at the time of the accident.
Caughman is a senior at Central High School and a member of the Central Tigers football team.
