Marshall Tucker Band Coming to Cherokee Casino Roland

The Marshall Tucker Band to perform “Can’t You See” and other fan favorites during a free performance May 26 inside Lee Creek Tavern at Cherokee Casino and Hotel Roland.

Those “Searchin’ For A Rainbow,” may have hit the jackpot at Cherokee Casino and Hotel Roland on May 26 when the multiplatinum-selling group The Marshall Tucker Band takes on Lee Creek Tavern for a free show.

The performance kicks off at 8 p.m. and is standing room only.

In the early fall of 1972, a young and hungry Doug Gray teamed up with Tommy Caldwell, Toy Caldwell, Paul T. Riddle, George McCorkle and Jerry Eubanks.

The crew borrowed the name "Marshall Tucker" from a piano tuner whose name was found on a key ring in their old rehearsal space. In 1972, they signed with Capricorn Records, the same label that guided The Allman Brothers Band, Wet Willie and others to national fame.

The Marshall Tucker Band released their first, self-titled album, “The Marshall Tucker Band,” which catapulted the band into the national spotlight with “Can’t You See.”

Their chart-topping hits would wow critics and influence future major country acts like Alabama, The Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad and Travis Tritt with the band’s definitive blend of rock, rhythm and blues, jazz, country and gospel.

With hit singles like "Heard It In A Love Song," "Fire On The Mountain" and "Take The Highway," The Marshall Tucker Band earned seven gold and three platinum albums while they were on the Capricorn Records label. Platinum records include 1977’s “Carolina Dreams” and their 1978 “Greatest Hits” album.

The band has recorded 22 studio albums, three DVDs, three live albums and many compilations. Thanks to the expanding scope of today's music, a new generation of fans is learning what the rest of their fans have known for so long—that good music knows no boundaries.

The Marshall Tucker Band’s music has been featured on the soundtracks of movies such as “Smokey and the Bandit,” “Blow,” “Swing Vote,” “Shipwrecked,” “Taking Chance” and many others.

The band currently records on its own Ramblin’ Records label.
